Don’t Run Out of Gas on the Interstate!

First – a big THANK YOU to all of you who serve our country in uniform. You’re always in our thoughts and prayers, but “Memorial Day” brings it home.

This week six players tied with 30 points for the race: “Bumper” Bill (he bumped the Mayor’s car), Ronie (“I’m Watchin You” – tax season is over) , West Coast “Trekkers” Sue and Peter, Hope “Thunder-Storm” Mizzel and Walt “Baby Love” all gained 30 points in session two.

Bob and Joyce “Sandcastle” Jones hold the lead in session 2 (2 of 10 races complete) with 80 points with Jake “JBA All the Way” Altizer and West Coast “Trekkers” Sue and Peter tied for second at 75 points.

2007 Charlotte Spring

All the big names chickened out with 5 laps to go and stopped for a 1-2 second splash of gas to finish the last 5 laps … and they got BEAT by five unknown cars that took the chance … The winner, Casey Mears coasted to the winner’s circle after crossing the finish line.

“Sandcastle” Jones and Jake “JBA All the Way” Ride Gordon and Johnson to Victory

Thanks to Jeff Gordon winning another race and Jimmie Johnson in third … the Jones (past Champions!) are back on top … and young Jake Altizer (JBA plans to go “All the Way” to trophy time) both gained a major chunk of 60 points for the race.

2007 Darlington Spring

Nice stripe on Jamie McMurray’s ride… Just goes to show that even the Car of Tomorrow can’t handle the Lady in Black – a.k.a. the Track Too Tough To Tame. See full results at NASCAR.com

Clutch, Fast Lane, Geaux Tigers, Combat Carl, and The Jones in the Playoffs

Session ONE is DONE. Top 5 point earners get into the “A” playoffs.

We have the first five players qualified for the end of year playoffs (The Last Six Races) for the BIG TROPHY and BRAGGING RIGHTS.

Cindy Clutch Strickland (she burned out clutches as a kid). 15 Bonus points for the playoff.

Charlie, likes the Fast Lane, two-time-champion is back in again! 10 Bonus points for the playoff.

Bruce, Geaux Tigers, Gigandet often close to the top and was leading in the playoffs last year up till the last race! 5 Bonus points for the playoffs.

Combat Carl Strickland, ready for battle … and to take home the trophy … with Cindy as the main competition right in the same household … yes, they watch the races for sure. 5 Bonus points for the playoffs.

Past Champ Bob & Joyce “Sandcastle” Jones squeak into the playoffs in the 5th spot – no bonus… sorry.

We have three sessions of 10 races each (we all start over at zero points each session); and then a six race playoff for those 15 players that qualify. Again, the playoff members start at zero except for bonus points for finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any session.

Rainy Saturday Night Leads to Sunny Sunday for Lanemaker

Charlie Lane finishes the first session strong – is he on track to become our first three-time champ? Cindy “Clutch” Strickland managed to hold him off at the end, earning her a 15 point headstart in the playoffs. Charlie took second, so he’s not losing much ground with 10 playoff points. Bruce “Geaux Tigers” Gigandet and “Combat Carl” Strickland tied for 3rd for the session and will be credited with 5 playoff points apiece.

2007 Richmond Spring

File it under “horseshoes and hand grenades”: Toyota almost got their first top 10 this week, but there was a late race incident that dropped Dave Blaney to 11th. Read all about it at NASCAR.com

Welcome to our new teams Jill & Dave “Shibumi” and Rick & Eliena “Pit Stop” Bodtke. Stay tuned for a session recap from the Commissioner, Toby “Ol’ Lucky” Spahr…
